What's in a gesture

Long before Juan Pablo Bonet's first modern text to teach the deaf sign language in 1620, was a hand gesture that has lived mostly unchanged for thousands of years.

Weather you use the finger, the bird, the single digit salute, the finger wave , shooting the bird or flipping someone off the obscenity of this hand gesture has gained a universal standing thought the world.

The widely held belief that it dates back to the Ancient Greece and is meant to represent a phallus. The finger barriers intent to show disrespect to the finger-e.

The Ancient Greece or Ancient Romans phallus theory does lack long term credibility. I submit, making the gesture back then was more a non-verbal method of locating like minded people that enjoyed a similar life style.

The more direct meaning that I apply to the middle finger salute, relays to a legend from the middle ages it's been said in 1415 at the Battle of Agincourt between France and England of the Hundred Years War. English archers once captured by the French would have there middle fingers cut off to prevent them from using there longbows. To which the English would prominently display them as an act of defiance.

The longbow was a leap in technology for it's time, it was the first bow that could generate enough velocity to propel an arrow which would pierce body armor. The ability to field an inexpensive weapon in the hands of relatively unskilled archer that could kill a highly trained knight was seen as lacking gallantry..... I look at the long bow as being the assault weapon of it's day.

At the time the act of digit taking was an effective method of weapons control for a long bows.
Now I don't expect the next attempt at legislation for gun control to include the loss of a trigger finger just the loss or restriction on firearms and ammunition.

The continues assaults by the agenda driven liberals to regulate our gun rights is merely the path to confiscation then total control.

To the non constitutional agenda driven liberals that think they know whats best for everyone. I will gladly show you my first digit as my act of defiance to your anti-American agenda for it is not my middle finger I rely upon but my first.

Knowing that this gesture will be lost on your simple minds ….. just look for me to display the time honored hand gesture of the Flying finger.

A Conversation about Race.

In light of recent events with the acquittal of George Zimmerman some ugly truth's are being overlooked. Presidential comments that create greater racial divides are not on a forward leaning path to healing a nations history of prejudices.

It's easy to point out what's wrong with society, we need a leader who can come up with answers to problems not create more.

In my life I've seen prejudices, as a child I was told not to say certain words as not to offend anyone. Now as an adult I personally experienced what prejudice is.

Here is my story.
In the early 90's I worked for a major self moving company as a store manager. Being in need of an assistant manager I hired a man , a brother to an associate whom I had great respect for.

I made several accommodations for my new assistant manager including the unauthorized use of a company vehicle and even sub-let an extra room in my apartment.

All went well till one day after work I came home to a discover the apartment and bedroom tossed . Upon discovering the theft of several items and the rent money I questioned my roommate about the theft.

He confirmed that he lent out the key to his friend to use the buildings gym. Instead his friend letting himself into the apartment, he stole from me what he could.

I confronted his friend over the theft and this was his response.

You are a rich white boy you can afford it”

He then spent several minuets telling me about how they were slaves and that it is Ok for them to take what they want because I was “rich”.

That episode changed my point of view on what prejudice is.
In my life I have told insensitive jokes but never have I sought retribution for what my ancestors did.

We need an open conversation on what the race problem really is.

War by Proxy.

The Syrian Government's use of chemical weapons which resulted in just over 120 deaths was said to be a red line not to cross. With the crossing of that line the Obama's administration is being challenged with what to do.

Since leading from behind has been Obama's mantra, the U.S. involvement with the Syrian rebels is coming to late in the game to make a real difference and is very limited as to a productive resolution.

The release of information related to the chemical weapons investigation by the Obama administration is well timed to the increase of president Bashar Al-Assad support from Hezbollah, Iran and Russia. The recent losses by the Syrian rebels appear to be spurring the increase of lethal aid more than the conformation of chemical weapons being used.

The loss of 90,000 + lives in the last two years of this ongoing civil war is a test to humanity. Is our involvement going to lessen the possible death total or increase it?

Is giving arms to a failing rebellion the right thing to do, or should a lot more time be spent on diplomacy with Russia?

By supporting the rebels are we creating the same situation as we did in Afghanistan during the Russian occupation? (The CIA trained Osama Bin Laden)

Having a Nobel Peace Prize recipient for a President should give the U.S. the upper hand on how to deal with this ongoing civil war. However President Obama's style of “leading from behind” is not a calculated method. It' is out of necessity as he has no clue how to lead. Which beckons the question, who is running the White House?

Sent. McCain met with some of the anti Al-Assad fighters and from that short meeting are we as Americans suppose to feel better about giving weapons to terrorist turned rebels?

Since Obama is such a weak leader is this going to be McCain's war?

Who can we trust?

The irony of The U.S. Government funding the Syrian rebels is that Russia is the biggest supplier of ammunition to the American public, who's grown wary of the scandal ridden overreaching of the Obama administration.

Data the New Gold in Mining

The latest term that's hit the electron highway is Data Mining. This is not some method of retrieving a rare material that will save the world from climate change, it's information that's a click away.

The eyes being the window to your soul. Now, your finger opens the door to your personal life. With every click of the mouse you are telling the world everything about you. Anyone can find almost everything, your personality, level of income, religion, political affiliation, health care needs and every tawdry tidbit of dirty laundry you try to hide in the basket of your mind.

Market research has been used since the invention of the wheel. Knowing what your audience wants before they want it is now the pursuit of mathematicians using algorithms with super computers that makes data out of data to predict the next trend.

As you surf your Face Book page the amount of data you produce fills columns of useful information, not just clicks on clever phrases or products but how long your curser hovered over it, is data. How fast you scroll through a page can show your interest in a product but also your education level.

The amount of data available is generated by what we do and by what we don't do.
Seeing the power of data is to simply open your eyes. It's everywhere and in everything, as if the matrix is alive and well and we’re in it.

With the blessing of the Obama administration the NSA has been fishing for data to analyze, of course all under the guise of national security. By understanding you don't need to know the content of a conversation to know what's being said.
You just need to know the conversation took place in order to paint a picture of whats trending.

As we interact with all of our technology, our activity's create patterns in the streams of data that the government is collecting. That data is compared with known patterns of activity's by terrorist in order to locate possible breeches in future security.

The question has become what activity's does the Obama Administration now consider security issues?

People are predictable even when erratic. This predictability equates into probability’s that provide the knowledge to which evil men can rule over others.
Market research or data mining is spying, it's all a matter of how it's done and for what purpose will determine whether it's legal.

Something for my audience to ponder.....When calculating an enemy's troop strength you don't need to photograph the troops to know how many are there. You just need to know how many latrines where dug.

How to Fight Terrorist

The war on terrorism cannot be won until we identify what is the enemy.

The modern definition of the word terrorist is vague. The term terrorism comes from the French “terrorisme”, or Latin: terror. “There is neither an academic nor international consensus regarding the definition of the term terrorism” “ These difficulties arise from the fact that the term “terrorism” is politically and emotionally charged”

Terrorism is not an ideal, a political philosophy, or religious value it is a tactic of war. This tactic has been used in every war and in every battle since the beginning of time and it is the psychology of war.

During the Revolutionary War, frontiersman with Kentucky rifles used the concealment of the forest to fire upon English officers.

At a time when army's fired volley's from muskets at each other with mere yards between them, the killing of an officer by a hidden sniper was considered a terrorist act by a gorilla fighter, as if war was to be fought by gentlemen.

The psychology of that simple act changed many battles. Using terror as a battle tactic is quiet useful when you’re faced with an enemy that's much larger than your self.

The people driven to acts of terrorism today don't seam to have a clear agenda, other than to punish those they wish to condemn.

What is it about America that they so despise?

Is it our freedom they don't like?

To be able to comment about our country's leaders?

To go to a bar and have a drink ?

To be enticed by the beauty of a woman?

To live in a society where women have a voice?

To freely choose a religion that you want to follow?

Is it easier to blame our society other than to take personal responsibility for they're own failings? A Christian seeks forgiveness of sins, not to blame another person for his own.

The psychology of a rifle bore that's been greased with the tallow of swine goes a long way when fighting against a belief.

Terrorism being an act of war and to terrorize is horrifying. What would be more horrific than knowing your going to hell?

“The only way to know if the war on terror is over
is when all of your rights are restored.”

My Friend the Enemy

The enemy of my enemy is my friend, is an ancient Arabian proverb. On the surface it seams to be very worthy of merit.

To look upon it for what it is, will open your eyes to the truth of it's short sided stupidity. Anyone who would barter for such an alliance is an opportunist, who lacks the foresight of history.

As you stand on the shore of the worlds ocean a lifeboat rocks in the waves of an ever ebbing tide. In the distances you see a ship that's sinking. You peer with squinted eyes to see what flag she fly's, ..it's not your friend's flag. Your sworn enemy's ship is sinking and there are people everywhere treading water yelling for help. With a lifeboat their on the shore you can save them, yet these are the same people that swore to do every thing they could to kill you. You can row out and save those that mean me no harm, how do I tell?

A group of men calling in unison as they cling to a piece of floating debris, if you save them first will they help to save the others or will they swamp the lifeboat being driven by their own desires?

What's happening in Syria is a staggering lose of life, and is an affront to humanity.

A drowning man will accept rescue from his enemy but does the act not make him a friend, or just a rescuer?

I had a conversation with a former Iranian citizen who left Iran at the time the Shah was deposed. I was taken back as to how his thought process worked. Even though he enjoyed the freedoms that come with living in America, he would never be an American. Being raised in a society that embraces killing for the sake of eternal rewards showed me that he was fully indoctrinated in the martyrdom philosophy.

He spoke of their national fountain that spewed blood red water, which signified the blood that has been shed, and the blood to be shed in the name of Allah.

In that meeting I discovered that he was not driven by the sense of country but that of a fanatic religion that promotes the advancement of martyrdom and that those who are not of the same religion are sub-human (infidels) to be slaughtered.

I've talked to many people from around the world and none that have left me so unnerved as he did.

For over 30 years I've seen men, women, and children all yelling and chanting “death to America” as they burned our flag.

By saving the drowning are we making an enemy?

Farmers Rule the World

There was a time in America's history that the majority of our Revolutionary leaders were farmers. This was a time ripe for great change, the up-evil of the ruling body that freely invaded anyone's home, robbing them of their privacy and taxing them into submission, for the endowment of their agenda and personal gains.

The foundation of our nation is rooted in law, within these laws are the checks and balances of power. There will always be a need for law, to protect the innocent and to promote liberty. Although within the progress of time laws that had one meaning now have been given a new life that is a-front to its original intent.

The actions of one farmer named Roscoe Filburn who wanted to grow his own wheat for his chickens and by doing so he would have produced more than what the government allows and as a consequence he was fined. The fine was later declared a tax and this has become the base argument relating to the commerce clause to require every person to buy healthcare insurance or face a
non-compliance tax.

The farm bill originated in 1933 to subsides U.S. farmers in the midst of the Great Depression. The government paid farmers to stop the production of seven main crops or “commodities” and the hope was to stabilize the market and increase pricing. It also contained several provisions for conservation, storage of surplus and support for farmers that suffered the effects of the Dust Bowl.

What seemed very straight forward then has become an “Omnibus Bill” of today. In simple terms it has become the “Blob” a bill that effects everyone in ways that a prudent person would never have guessed. We are now governed by lawyers who only know how to skirt laws and write the most convoluted bills. The agenda driven heresy they spew is like a broken sewer main spreading the waist oppression upon all free land. What we need is the actions of a farmer, to till under the waist of bureaucracy, to continue to plant the seeds of liberty to grow the crops of a free society.

Those that understand the power of the farmer are the one's who choose to rule over them. The symbol of Communism is the hammer over the cycle or to rule with an Iron fist over the the farmer. To rule the world is to control the farmers.

Why has the Democratic party become so arrogantly detached from ordinary Americans? Though they claim to speak for the poor and dispossessed, Democrats have increasingly become the party of an upper-middle-class professional elite, heavy with journalists, academics and lawyers” quote by; Camille Paglia
